Yokohama Tire Corp. introduced two new radial tires at the Conexpo-Con/Agg show here March 4 as the company continued to expand its range of off-road products.
The RL45 and RL51 feature enhanced treads and compounding for increased durability and cut-resistance, and new block patterns for better traction, the Fullerton, Calif.-based company said in a release.
The tires are elements of a plan through 2016 to introduce more models and position YTC as a one-stop source for all off-road tire needs, said Tim Easter, director of off-road tire sales.
"Many off-road customers want to deal with the fewest number of suppliers they can," Easter said. "That means offering a full range of products."
The RL45 is available in in two versions; the E-4 for articulated dump trucks and scrapers, and the L-4 for front-end loaders. Both come in a 26.5R25 size.
"Many manufacturers combine the L-4 and E-4 into a single application, but Yokohama built a tire for each, so there is no compromise for either application," Easter said.
The RL51 L-5 application is designed for front-end loaders and graders and is available in size 23.5R25.
"This is a resilient radial for high-cut uses," Easter said. The tire features improved traction and stability, and the belt package means it will not sway under load, the company said.
Both models feature a cross-ply steel belt package to improve durability. Other features include a high turn-up carcass construction for protection against exterior damage and buttress side protection to reduce sidewall cuts and snags.
