LaserSharp FlexPak Services has unveiled a new laser solution that controls gas or vapor transmission in packaging material for a modified atmosphere package.
The company's laser process, which uses existing films and makes packages more breathable, is said to be successful in achieving the desirable oxygen transmission rates (OTR) values targeted to specific needs.
According to the company, the method eliminates the need to spend additional amount on specialty designed films.
The company uses Advanced LaserSharp laser technology toward the pack's targeted areas allowing gases and vapors to transmit into the package through the laser processed area quickly.
The laser treated area makes it possible to raise the transmission rate of gases and vapors within the package, without effecting its other sealed properties.
LaserSharp noted that the laser beam processes through the selected structure of the film, keeping the package hermetic.
