Japanese auto parts maker DENSO's India subsidiary DENSO International India (DIIN) has opened a new technical centre.
DENSO's Indian technical centre is expected to develop products such as powertrains, electric and electronic components, information and safety systems, as well as small motors and motorcycle components for its Indian market.
Additionally, the centre will also create advanced software to support DENSO's product development in other operating regions.
DENSO said it has invested $28.2m to establish the new technical centre, which was built on the site of DIIN.
The new technical center comes equipped with several testing and evaluation equipment including an engine bench and a chassis dynamometer that tests vehicles at temperatures ranging from -30 to +50 degree Celsius environment.
DENSO Engineering Research & Development Center executive director Yasushi Yamanaka said the new technical center will help DENSO in promoting product development to meet Indian customer needs.
"To further strengthen development capabilities, we plan to double the number of employees for the technical center by FY2015," Yamanaka said.
