US propane and propylene stocks increased 2.17 million barrels in the reporting week that ended May 23, Energy Information Administration data showed Thursday. A week earlier, the build was almost identical at 2.18 million barrels.
The Gulf Coast region saw a smaller increase of 640,000 barrels compared with the previous three weeks, when the build in inventories ranged between 1.3 million barrels and 2.2 million barrels. USGC stocks stood at 22.6 million barrels in the week that ended May 23.
Midwest stocks rose nearly 1.3 million barrels to 14.8 million barrels. The build was the largest since the reporting week ending June 14, 2013. Midwest stocks rose 995,000 barrels in the previous week.
The Atlantic Coast region saw an increase of 59,000 barrels to a total of 3 million barrels.
Total imports in the most recent reporting week rose 6,000 b/d to 65,000 b/d. In the comparable week last year, imports were 79,000 b/d.
US stocks of propylene for non-fuel use increased 183,000 barrels to 3.9 million barrels.
