German carmaker BMW has unveiled the new M6 Gran Coupe prior to its debut at the upcoming 2013 Detroit Motor Show to be held in January in the US.
The new coupe, which is the latest addition to the carmaker's range of M Division models, is powered by 4.4L V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo that generates an output of about 560hp and 502lbft of torque.
Mated to a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic, the engine allows the coupe to sprint from 0-100kmph in 4.2 seconds as well as acheive a top speed of about 250kmph, while consuming 9.9L/100kms.
The transmission's electronic management system is aimed at offering the driver with a launch control function for maximum acceleration, low speed assistance for additional comfort and the auto start-stop function to improve efficiency.
Standard features of the M6 Gran Coupe include an M-specific version of the dynamic damper control system and hydraulic variable-ratio rack-and-pinion steering incorporated with the M Servotronic function.
Security features of the new coupe include an M-specific BMW head-up display, park distance control, a rear-view camera, high beam assistant, speed limit info, lane change warning, lane departure warning, surround view and BMW night vision with integrated pedestrian recognition.
The M6 Gran Coupe is scheduled to be launched in May 2013.
