The Isuzu D-Max X-Runner has been released to celebrate Isuzu’s annual Max Run fuel economy challenge, giving Australian ute buyers added features and more value.
To be sold in limited numbers and priced at $46,990 driveaway, the Isuzu D-Max X-Runner is based on the Isuzu D-Max 4×4 LS-U and sees the addition of a unique pearl white metallic paint, three-piece hard tonneau cover, black rear sports bar, tub liner, floor mats and ‘X-Runner’ decals, combining to represent $4500 worth of extra value.
Powered by the Japanese manufacturer’s 130kW/380Nm 3.0-litre common-rail turbo-diesel engine, and paired with either a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission, fuel consumption figures vary from 8.3 litres per 100 kilometres for the manual, to 8.1L/100km for the automatic. The Isuzu D-Max X-Runner is on sale now, covered by both Isuzu’s five-year warranty and five-year roadside assistance program.
The annual fuel economy challenge, the Isuzu Max Run Challenge, sees the public enter a competition to guess how many kilometres an Isuzu D-Max can travel on one tank of diesel. This year an automatic D-Max 4×2 LS Crew Cab ute will start in south east Queensland and head south-west as far as possible.
Previously, the best fuel economy figures were recorded in 2009, when a manual D-MAX 4×2 Crew Cab Low Ride made it 1716.3km from far north Queensland into South Australia for an average fuel consumption figure of 4.428L/100km.
While the second-generation Isuzu D-Max only launched in Australia back in June last year, combined, 8442 D-Max utes have been put in driveways over 2012/2013.
