O2Micro International, a provider of high-performance integrated circuits and solutions, has announced that it has added a new built-in night light driver to its Free Dimming technology and lighting product portfolio.
The OZ8022M high brightness offline LED driver controller can be used to dim any on/off switch. It also delivers an ultra-low night light dimming level.
O2Micro's Free Dimming technology has been patented. While conventional incandescent dimmers face compatibility, cost and installation issues, the new technology allows dimming of LED bulbs using any on/off switch. It is compatible with paddle switches, rotary switches, pull cords, wall toggles and other on/off switch types.
Using any type of plain non-dimming on/off switches, the OZ8022M high brightness offline LED driver controller facilitates three-step dimming. It is similar to the company's OZ8022B and OZ8022A Free Dimming LED driver controllers, but it dims from 100% to 40% to 2.5%. The OZ8022A and OZ8022B dim from 100% to 60% to 20%. The 2.5% is a night light mode.
The OZ8022M high brightness offline LED driver controller can function within a wide voltage range of 85 V to 265 V. The OZ8022M reduces complexity of thermal management as well as energy consumption due to its efficiency of over 89%. Its LED current regulation enables consistent lumen output and it overcomes varying line input conditions. The OZ8022M features integrated cycle-by-cycle current limiting, LED short circuit protection, over-voltage and over-temperature protection which increase reliability and safety of the operation.
