The average retail prices in clothing and textile sector of Brazil have shown a positive change of 10.2 percent year-on-year in April 2013, according to a report released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The report says the retail sales of the apparel and textile sector in Brazil, which also includes footwear, has shown a negative growth of 0.5 percent, compared to April 2012.
The accumulated growth rate of the Brazilian apparel sector was recorded as 5.6 percent for Jan-Apr period of 2013, and a growth rate of 4.9 percent on year-on-year basis.
In April 2013, the overall retail trade in Brazil, which includes clothing, recorded a change of minus 0.5 percent for the volume of sales and a change of 0.8 percent for the nominal revenue, both rates are in relation to the previous month, the report says.
