German carmaker Opel has unveiled the new Astra OPC car, which is claimed to be the new high-performance member in the Astra family.
The new model in the Opel Performance Center (OPC) family is powered by a 2.0litre four-cylinder turbocharged direct injection engine which produces an output of 280hp and 400Nm torque.
According to Opel, the new car can reach from zero to 100km/h in six seconds and achieve a top speed of 250 km/h.
Opel OPC is equipped with ESP stability control, which offers three different modes of driving: the first mode provides maximum ride safety for daily circumstances, the second offers Competitive mode while the last ESP-off mode allows driver to disable the ESP.
Astra OPC has also been equipped with a mechanical multi-plate limited slip differential on the front axle, which will offer maximum torque to the road while the FlexRide and HiPerStruts improve the performance of chassis.
The Brembo brakes fitted to the car will improve temperature resistance during repeated braking and performance feedback through temporary long braking.
The company said the high power vehicle completes the OPC family which includes the small Corsa OPC and the mid-size Insignia OPC.
The four-cylinder engine offers 25% more maximum torque than its Astra OPC predecessor and can also offer 40 hp more power.
