Olympus Corporation will suspend production of digital cameras in its Guangdong plants, reducing three major production bases in China and Vietnam into two situated in Shenzhen and Vietnam respectively.
Olympus will focus its resources on compact cameras and high-performance card cameras that are profitable and withdraw from the low-price card camera market recording lessening sales volume. Besides, Olympus will expand sales volume of camera lens made in Shenzhen plants to other customers to improve profitability of digital cameras.
