Iran's handicraft exports for first six months of the current Iranian calendar year grew more than six times to US$ 640 million, over handicraft exports worth US$ 100 million made during the corresponding period of last year, Iranian Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization said.
Tehran Times quoted Deputy Director of the Iranian Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization Mohammad-Hasan Salehimaram saying the value of country's handicraft exports is seen touching US$ 1.5 billion by end of current Iranian year that started on March 20.
He said to help handicraft exporters the Government would provide them US$ 1.5 billion in loans, repayable with 6 percent interest.
