LG has just revealed its latest offering to home appliances at CES 2015 – a twin-drum washing machine.
The new front-loading washer sports LG’s new Twin Wash system, which lets two separate loads be washed simultaneously.
The system works by adding in a ‘space-efficient’ mini washer as a pedestal to the washer, reducing time spent washing.
David VanderWaal, LG’s Head of Marketing, said LG wants to focus on making “the stuff people have to do easier, more efficient, and less time consuming, all so they can get back to the things they want to do.”
“Washing times are significantly reduced, leaving more time for families to spend on the things they want to do."
LG revealed that customers would be able to buy the mini-washers separately and use them with any existing LG front-load washers.
According to VanderWaal, the mini-washer is best used to deal wit ‘the little loads of intimates and the workout gear’, leading to ‘significant savings of time and effort.’

The washer itself has also undergone some changes, namely the repositioning of the door to 21mm higher, with the drum angle changed by 6 degrees, all so users won’t have to bend to load the washer.
Turbowash 2.0 also features, making washing ‘faster’ than ever before, with savings of up to 30 minutes per load touted.
This is achieved by the use of twin nozzles spraying concentrated detergent directly onto clothes, while another nozzle sprays water from above onto clothes during high spin cycles for ‘quick and effective rinsing’.
LG also talked up the smart aspect of the washing machine, boasting that the new washer would be smartphone friendly.
This means that users can upload custom cycles, check up on cycle status from afar, and even arrange alerts for wash completion.
