According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in the first four months of the current year motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 237,789 units, rising by 13.2 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Meanwhile, in April Turkey's motor vehicle sales saw an increase of six percent month on month and were up 16.7 percent compared to the same month of 2012, totaling 77,038 units.

In the first four months of this year, Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 171,433 units, rising by 19.7 percent year on year. In April, passenger car sales in Turkey rose by 24.9 percent year on year to 56,999 units, up 10 percent compared to March.

In the first four months, Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 275,369 units, rising by 5.1 percent, while its passenger car exports amounted to 150,834 units, rising by 1.7 percent, both compared to the same period last year. The country exported 110,729 small trucks in the period in question, up five percent year on year. The revenue for total motor vehicle and component exports in the January-April period amounted to $6.95 billion, rising by 1.6 percent, while the revenue from passenger car exports totaled $2.26 billion, rising by 3.8 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2012.

In the first four months of 2013, Turkey's passenger car imports rose by 36.1 percent year on year, totaling 134,631 units. In the given period, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 162,901 units, rising by 27.91 percent year on year.
