US carmaker General Motors (GM) is recalling 10,315 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans in the cold areas of the US and Canada due to the effect of corrosion, which could block the fuelling pipe.
According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the vehicles manufactured during 2003-2004 period are affected by the recall, which include 9,389 vans in the US and 926 in Canada.
The vans deploy a left side cargo door and in cold areas water, salt and other erosion agents used to clear roads would affect the protective shield around the fuel filler pipe and can cause a rupture, leading to risk of fire.
The US safety agency revealed that vehicles in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts,Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and District of Columbia are affected by the recall.
