Drivetrain, mobility, braking and aftermarket applications supplier Meritor is planning to move the production operations from its North American remanufacturing plant to a new 'center of excellence' in Plainfield, Indiana.
The company will invest about $1.4m in its new Indiana facility, while creating nearly 82 new jobs during 2012 and 2013.
Meritor said the remanufacturing plant operations are expected to be transferred to the new Indian facility by 31 March 2013.
Additionally, the company is also planning to shift the Canadian customer service and support to its Brampton, Ontario facility.
Meritor Global Aftermarket Operations general manager said Doug Wolma said: "We are taking these actions to improve efficiencies while continuing to serve and support our Canadian customers through our facilities in Brampton; Edmonton, Alberta; Moncton, New Brunswick and Boucherville, Quebec."
