Draughts has now secured over £15,000 with 18 days remaining on the crowdfunding site.
The team behind London’s first board game café, Draughts, have been left “amazed” after smashing its Kickstarter goal with 18 days still to go.
Toby Hamand and Nick Curci launched the project at the end of July with the hope of raising £10,000 to fund a revamped interior and to source as many board game titles as possible.
However, that target was broken in just six days since launch as supporters donated £12,806.
With 18 days of the crowdsourcing still remaining, Draughts has now secured £15,316 from a total of 368 backers.
“I was talking with Nick that when we hit the button to launch, I had no idea what would happen,” Draughts co-founder, Hamand told The Evening Standard.
Draughts is scheduled to open under the railway arches in Acton Mews near Haggerston station later this year.
