Indian steelmaker JSW Steel Limited has announced that it has commissioned the phase 1 of the cold roll mill No. 2 facility at Vijayanagar Works, Karnataka, consisting of a 2.3 million mt per year pickling line coupled with a tandem cold mill, a 950,000 mt per year continuous annealing line and a 400,000 mt per year continuous galvanizing line.
The new cold rolling mill No. 2 will be able to produce high strength and advanced high strength steel, both uncoated and coated, with a width of up to 1,870 mm. JSW Steel said that the 950,000 mt per year continuous annealing line is India's first continuous annealing line.
JSW Steel plans to commission the second phase of the cold rolling mill No. 2, consisting of another 950,000 mt per year continuous annealing line during the first half of the financial year 2015-16. The new plant will be the cornerstone of JSW Steel's growth story, enhancing the share of value-added products in the product basket of the company.
