a Exhibition-Cum-Fashion Show Is Taken Place at Zimbabwean Annual Cultural Fest Hifa

A unique rural exhibition-cum-fashion show, which aims to feature the best of African handicrafts and textile designs, is going to take place at Zimbabwean annual cultural fest Harare International Festival of Arts (HIFA), scheduled to be held from April 30 to May 5, 2013.

Titled as Rural to Ramp Handcraft Showcase, the expo will encourage artisans and designers to create quirky, out of the box designs, which later would be modelled by professional models on the runway.

Organized by Mustard Seed Africa, the event will not only promote handicrafts and textiles from the rural regions of the vast continent, but would also support and stimulate product development and designs.

Inspired by music, drama and folk tales, the products displayed at the event would give the visiting buyers, designers and stakeholders an opportunity to appreciate them from a different angle.

The participating exhibitors include Lupane Women’s Centre and five other organisations from Swaziland such as Gone Rural, Imvelo Eswatini, Quazi Design, Golden Hands and Baobab Batik.

The six-day-long HIFA showcases the very best of local, regional and international arts and culture in a comprehensive festival programme which includes theatre, dance, music, circus, street performance and visual arts.
