Actavis Has Integrated Two Machines Into a Single Pick-and-Place Unit

Actavis has integrated two machines into a single pick-and-place unit for liquid pharmaceutical packaging lines, through machines supplied by ESS Technologies.

Through the robot, dropper tips are manually loaded into one vibratory bowl feeder as part of the first application, which guides the plugs onto a single track, according to packworld.com.

Bottle reducer bowl-feeder tracks are adjustable to widths as second vibratory bowl feeder and track handles two sizes of PIBA bottle reducers.

Bottles are stationed in the plugging position and secured in place by holding fixtures, while the robot places the plugs on two bottles, as two dropper tips or bottle reducers are picked simultaneously.

The pair of bottles ultimately moves to a tamping station that presses the plugs tightly into their necks, according to the device specifications.

According to Actavis, ESS has been an efficient machine supplier and specializes in robotic soft automation that enables cost-savings.
