US Foods has opened a newly expanded 135,000 ft2 distribution facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to better serve the customers in New Mexico, West Texas and Southern Colorado markets.
According to the company, the expansion project has more than doubled its cold storage capacity and increased the number of shipping and receiving docks. The new facility also includes a range of sustainable design features, such as energy-efficient lighting, high-efficiency refrigeration systems and water conservation capabilities.
US Foods Albuquerque division president John Szurek said the new facility expands the company's presence in the West.
"Our increased capacity and environmentally friendly design will allow us to provide 40% more products and even better service to our customers in New Mexico and surrounding states," Szurek added.
The facility currently has 150 employees and is expected to create more jobs over the next few years.
