The Yield of India's Industrial Falls by 2.2 Percent in June

India's industrial production indicated a contraction of 2.2 percent year on year in June this year, according to government data released on August 12. A cumulative year-on-year decline of 1.1 percent was observed for the April-June quarter this year.

The manufacturing sector, which constitutes about 76 percent of Indian industrial production, also contracted by 2.2 percent in June compared to the same month of the previous year, while in the April-June quarter the Indian manufacturing sector contracted by 1.2 percent year on year.

The industrial output index in India's basic metal sector in June this year decreased by 4.9 percent compared to June 2012, while the output index for fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, fell by 7.4 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the April-June quarter the output index for basic metals fell by 3.4 percent, while the output index for fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, declined by nine percent, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Menwhile, output of the industry segment of motor vehicles, trailers & semi-trailers contracted by 13.7 percent year on year in June.
