Abinsk Electrometallurgical Plant announced that its 500,000-600,000 MT rebar mill in south Russia will start hot run the newest built steelmaking shop later this month. The work shop can produce annual output around 1.3 million with 130-200mm square billet. The melting shop is scheduled to run at half of 100,000 MT/month maximum capacity until Abinsk doubles re-rolling volumes. The mill is reported already signed a contract with Italy’s Danieli to supply a second rolling mill with 600,000 mt/year of 5.5-12mm wire rod and 6-10mm bar in coil. The new project will be completed by late 2015 and it will increase the rolling capacity to meet the billet capacity.
