FAW-Volkswagen Is Planning to Build New Plant in Wuhan, China

German carmaker Volkswagen along with its joint venture (JV) partner China First Automobile Group (FAW) is planning to build a new vehicle manufacturing plant in Wuhan, China.

Currently, FAW-Volkswagen joint venture is in discussions with Wuhan's city government regarding the project.

As part of the German carmaker's plan to expand its worldwide auto market, it had already invested EUR170m in April 2012 with Shanghai-based SAIC Motor to build a new factory in Urumqi, in western China.

According to the company the new plant will be capable of producing 50,000 vehicles per annum starting 2015.

In 2011, the German carmaker had announced plans to invest EUR14bn on new plants and products in China via its joint ventures.
