Blackwater Distillery and Dungarvan Brewing Partnered to Produce an Oatmeal Stout

Ireland-based establishments Blackwater Distillery and Dungarvan Brewing have partnered to produce an oatmeal stout.

Through the partnership, Blackwater Distillery will distill and bottle the beer brewed by the Dungarvan Brewing, reports The Spirits Business.

Dungarvan is currently fermenting the oatmeal stout, of which 800 liters will be transported to Blackwater for distillation.

Once distilled, the beverage will be matured in sherry casks and launched as a limited edition spirit, called The Spirit of West Waterford, reports the publication.

Around 250 bottles of The Spirit of West Waterford will be produced to be sold in April.

Commenting on the development, Blackwater distiller Peter Mulryan said: "This is a very exciting innovation.

"We will bring the flavours of West Waterford to a whole new audience."

Earlier this month, Blackwater Distillery announced plans to begin producing Blackwater No 5 Gin in the near future.

It also intends to distill whiskey at a later date.
