Metso-Supplied Evaporation Plant Sets up at Brazilian Pulp Mill

Global technology and services supplier Metso has announced that the evaporation plant and recovery boiler supplied by the company for Eldorado Celulose came on stream at Eldorado’s Três Lagoas mill in Brazil.

Metso claims that the single-line Três Lagoas pulp mill counts on its equipment in its recovery line.

The single line evaporation plant has a capacity of 1,600t per hour and has been built for concentrating black liquor up to 80% dry solids content for low-emission combustion in the recovery boiler.

The boiler has a 6,800t of dry solids/day black liquor burning capacity and steam generation of 1,109t of steam/hour, which will be used in the pulp manufacturing process and in power generation.

Eldorado Celulose, which is controlled by J&F Holding, operates a single-line pulp mill with a capacity to produce 1.5 million tons (mt)of bleached eucalyptus pulp annually.

The company plans to build three parallel pulp lines by year 2020, which are expected to produce a total of 5mt annually.
