The Tire Industry Association (TIA) will host a fishing tournament at the 2014 OTR Conference scheduled for Feb. 19-22 at the Marco Island Marriott Resort & Golf Club in Marco Island, Fla.
The fishing tournament will take place on Feb. 20 from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. TIA says participants can choose from backwater fishing or offshore fishing.
The backwater or "inland" fishing trip will take participants into the region's network of bays, mangrove islands and tidal creeks in hopes of catching mangrove snapper, trout, redfish, Jack Cravelle and other species. The offshore trip will head into the Gulf of Mexico as sea conditions dictate for fishing near reefs and wrecks for grouper, snapper, cobia, king and Spanish mackerel.
"OTR attendees have expressed an interest in fishing in the past and with the Gulf Coast of Mexico providing some of the best fishing in the country, we knew that Marco Island was the place to add it to our program," says Matt White, TIA director of tire service.
The fee for either charter is $200 per person and includes transportation, boxed lunch, beverages, and captain's gratuity. Participants must be registered for the OTR conference in order to attend.
