Teleflex, a US-based critical care and surgical devices provider, has purchased Ultimate Medical and its affiliates.
The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
Ultimate Medical is supplier and developer of airway management devices with a line up of patented products and a wide range of laryngeal mask airways.
Ultimate Medical developed the Cuff PilotTM, an integrated cuff pressure indicator for single-use airway management devices. A single-use device, it offers constant inside-the-cuff pressure indication, allowing clinical assessment at a glance.
Presently, the Cuff Pilot technology is used with Ultimate Medical's line up of laryngeal masks and has potential application for use with Teleflex's LMATM laryngeal masks.
Teleflex International president and executive vice president Liam Kelly said that the acquisition of Ultimate Medical was a logical step after the company acquired The Laryngeal Mask Company and its affiliates last year.
"This acquisition provides Teleflex with additional innovative, and cost-effective, airway management options for our customers and underscores our commitment to leadership in airway management medical devices," Kelly added.
Besides the Cuff Pilot technology, the acquisition of Ultimate Medical supports Teleflex's strategy to grow global supraglottic airway procedural usage by widening their LMATM portfolio to include a complete range of silicone laryngeal masks and other related products.
