The Clothing Manufacturers Association of Turkey (TCMA) and South Korea’s Daegu Gyeonbuk Textile Industry Association (DGTIA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at increasing apparel trade between the countries.
Cem Negrin, President of TCMA, said the agreement signed between the Turkish and South Korean textile associations would open up new horizons for garment trade.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony in Istanbul, in the presence of representatives from South Korean textile manufacturers and companies as well as Turkish apparel firms.
Mr. Negrin said Turkey annually exports textile and apparel products worth US$ 22 million to South Korea, whereas it imports textile and apparel products worth US$ 240 million from the country.
The agreement would help bridge the gap between the exports and imports, and would provide trade opportunities for various apparel and textile manufacturers in both the countries, he added.
On his part, President of DGTIA, Lee Dong Soo, said the signing of the agreement with Turkey would help secure a major foothold for both the countries in the global textile market.
