In July this year, manganese ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland totaled 268,321 metric tons, increasing by 60.19 percent from 167,500 metric tons in June and up 36.55 percent compared to the same month of 2013, according to the monthly data released by the Port Hedland Port Authority.
Meanwhile, in July this year, China was the top destination for manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland, receiving 213,321 mt, up 102.2 percent compared to June, while no manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland to China had been made in July 2013. In July this year, China was followed by S. Korea, which received 55,000 mt of manganese ore.
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Manganese in the manganese ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
