3M Co. plans to release an LED light bulb that shines like an incandescent but uses less energy and lasts for 25 years.
The $25 light bulb costs 75-percent less to power than traditional bulbs. It is manufactured in New Ulm, Minn., and is made possible by 3M's optical film, adhesive and heat management technology.
The Maplewood-based manufacturer plans to sell the bulbs at Walmart stores by September.
The 3M Co.'s new LED Advanced Light looks and illuminates like an incandescent lightbulb, but uses a host of 3M technologies on the inside.
