Nexen Tire America Inc. has announced that David Sul will assume the position of chief executive officer, replacing Changrin Suk, who has resigned for personal reasons, effective Sept. 30, 2013.
Sul has been with Nexen since 1988 and most recently served in the company's Overseas Business Department as Nexen's senior managing director at Nexen Tire Corp.'s Seoul, Korea corporate headquarters.
He also served there as managing director, director and general manager. He has also worked at the company's United States branch office in La Mirada, Calif., as branch manager.
In 2012, Nexen had a 2.5% share of the U.S. passenger tire market, and 2% of the light truck tire market, according to the 2013 Modern Tire Dealer Facts Issue.
Nexen Tire Corp. said that its newest plant in Changnyeong, South Korea, is capable of producing more than 10 million tires per year, compared to last year's production, which is estimated at 6 million tires, a 40% increase in capacity.
The company says it will continue expanding capacity at the plant to 21 million tires per annum by 2018. The company also has plants in Yangsan, South Korea, and Qingdao, China.
