The supply of Nexen Tire Corp.'s CP671 to Chrysler LLC for two of its vehicles marks Nexen’s official entry into the American original equipment market.
Key personnel from both Nexen and Chrysler recently attended a supply kick off ceremony at the Sterling Heights, Mich., assembly plant in celebration of the OE fitments on the 2014 Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger.
Chrysler recognized Nexen’s technical skills in supplying the tires ahead of schedule.
"After building the new plant in Changnyeong, Korea, many automobile manufacturers have been visiting and inundating (Nexen) with requests," said Hyun Bong Lee, CEO and vice chairman of Nexen. "There are currently ongoing discussions to provide for other models in Chrysler’s lineup, so we expect to see further growth in the near future”.
On the replacement side, Nexen sponsored several Major League Baseball franchises this year: the Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves and Detroit Tigers. All three teams made the playoffs.
"Through cultivating the relationship with these franchises, Nexen is gaining a greater presence in local markets and, in turn, hopes to initiate greater North American OE sales," said the company.
