In the first half of the current year, the total export volume of seamless steel pipes from Changshu in China's Jiangsu Province amounted to 17,004 mt, with export sales revenues totaling $64.8364 million, down 28.2 percent and 21.6 percent respectively, both year on year, as reported by local media sources. The decrease was mainly due to sluggish demand in overseas markets and the appreciation of the Chinese currency, while higher costs resulted in slighter profit margins. The principle export destinations for seamless steel pipes from Changshu in the first half of the year included the US, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Canada.
