Details of the facelifted Porsche Panamera diesel have been revealed ahead of its official unveiling at the Frankfurt motor show on September 10.
Revealed via an Autocar report, the new Porsche Panamera diesel carries over the existing Audi-sourced 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine, albeit tweaked to produce of 218kW at 4000rpm and 649Nm between 1750 and 2500rpm – up 34kW and 99Nm on the current $196,700 model.
Powering the rear wheels through an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission, the refreshed oil-burning Panamera claims 0-100km/h in six seconds and a top speed of 259km/h – 0.8sec quicker than its predecessor with 15km/h more top end.
Economy is also improved, with Porsche claiming a 0.1L/100km and 3g/km CO2 improvement to 6.4L/100km and 169g/km.
Along with towing capacity being increased by 100kg to 2600kg, the report says the German manufacturer has also added its torque vectoring system – which distributes engine torque to the rear wheels and electronically controlled rear differential by applying brake pressure to individual wheels – as standard.
Like the facelifted Panamera plug-in hybrid, 3.0-litre petrol and long wheelbase variants seen in April, the revised diesel gets new LED headlights, larger air intakes and new tail-lights.
Still yet to be officially announced, the model should also benefit from an upgraded active cruise control system and lane departure warning.
More details are expected ahead of the luxury four-door’s Frankfurt unveiling.
