Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors has temporarily stopped shipments of its i-MiEV electric vehicles(EV)to French carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen.
Mitsubishi's EVs are sold as iOn Peugeot and Citro?n C-Zero in European market and the company said,the shipments have been halted temporarily to adjust the stocks.
Since 2010,Mitsubishi has been delivering EVs to Peugeot under an agreement to supply 100,000 of the vehicles,while the carmaker has produced 28,000 i-MiEVs in Japan since 2009.
The main reason for the downfall of these EVs is expected to be its high price,which begins around EUR30,000.
The Japanese firm has also signed other agreements with the French carmaker Peugeot,which include the supply of its 4×4 vehicles which are sold under Peugeot's brand while they together operate a facility in Russia.
