Cardia Bioplastics Has Secured Halal Certification for Its Range of Biohybrid Resins

Global sustainable resins supplier Cardia Bioplastics has secured Halal certification for its range of Biohybrid resins, which are derived from renewable sources and possess formal acknowledgement of compliance with Islamic laws pertaining to safety and quality.

Cardia Bioplastics managing director Dr Frank Glatz said the Halal certification provides assurance of absolute quality in the product and manufacturing process.

"The Halal symbol has gained significant commercial value across the globe because the underlying principles of the criteria are universal and transcend boundaries of race and religion," Glatz added.

According to Cardia, meeting the Halal criteria is universal recognition that its sustainable resins are safe to use in food packaging applications and are manufactured using quality techniques and resources, hygienically.

The certification is expected to open up an opportunity for Cardia to increase its market share of the global plastics and packaging industries.

"In fact, the Halal certification can apply to a number of categories, including food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and cosmetic products and in our case, consumables," Glatz concluded.
