In the first 11 months of this year, world pig iron production amounted to 1.07 billion mt, rising by 5.22 percent compared to the same period of 2012, according to the preliminary data covering 38 countries accounting for approximately 99 percent of total world blast furnace pig iron production, released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
Meanwhile, in November this year global pig iron production amounted to 90.45 million metric tons, decreasing by 6.98 percent compared to October and up 3.88 percent on year-on-year basis.
In November, pig iron output in Asia amounted to 69.41 million mt, up 4.15 percent, with 52.90 million mt produced by China, up 2.90 percent, 6.85 million mt produced by Japan, up 4.33 percent, and 3.93 million mt produced by India, up 14.91 percent - with all comparisons on year-on-year basis.
Meanwhile, in the same month EU countries produced 7.80 million mt of pig iron, while the CIS produced 6.62 million mt of pig iron, with an increase of 9.67 percent and a decrease of 1.84 percent respectively, year on year.
