GCMMF Has Unveiled a Dairy Plant in Dharuhera, Haryana, India

India-based Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the marketer of the Amul brand of milk and dairy products, has unveiled a dairy plant in Dharuhera, Haryana, India.

The $8m plant will feature a packaging facility of 3 million liters of pouch milk and 250,000 liters of buttermilk every day apart from other products, reported the Deccan Chronicle.

The new dairy will obtain milk from Gujarat and Haryana apart from Rajasthan, Punjab and West Bengal through which the local farmers who will be a part of the cooperative society. The farmers will also get a share of the plant's profit.

The new plant will serve the residents in Haryana, Delhi and the NCR.

According to the Union Agricultural Minister Sharad Pawar, GCMMF is seeking to expand its dairy network across the country and the farmers of the country have contributed a lot for the Indian dairy industry.

Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said India is currently producing 122 million liters of milk and it would increase its production to 180 million liters per day by 2020.
