Only 15% of glass containers used in Kazakhstan, is produced domestically. This is today said the managing director of the National Agency for Export and Investment Kaznex Invest Gaziza Shakhanov speaking at a round table on the packaging industry of the country.According to her, in Kazakhstan there is only one factory producing glass. It was he who provides the share of 15% of the total market. This is $ 200 million. The remaining 85% - a Russian, Uzbek and Chinese manufacturers.
Shakhanov noted that Russia, as a country of the Customs Union, of course stands alone, no measures to protect domestic producers will not help.
However, the vice-president of the Brewers' Union of Kazakhstan said that Kazakh producers of glass are simply unable to meet the needs of the domestic market due to lack of capacity. According to him, even if Kazakhstan Glass Company "SAF" will only produce bottles for beer, it will be able to provide only half the needs of three breweries.
In this regard, it was proposed to develop the domestic sector of the production of glass, but nothing concrete has not been told.
