Leather upholstery resource Simon Li Furniture is launching a Luxury Recliner program at the High Point Market this month. This program consists of a large selection of leather recliners with the ECO reclining system that debuted at the spring market.
Simon Li has been in the motion category since October 2013, but Carpenter believes the leather recliner niche has been abandoned with the commoditization of the category. With the growth he expects in this category, Carpenter hopes the company can maintain its current growth of more than 20% per year. Simon Li also has expanded its showroom in the Plaza Suite building, space 210, for High Point Market to accommodate more motion product offerings.
Carpenter feels the differentiators for their Luxury Recliner program are the high quality of the leather at retail price points of from $599 to $999, better construction, and easy operation with touch buttons. The program also allows recliners to be mixed in containers with other motion furniture.
While the program includes 20 to 25 power and manual recliners, Simon Li President Jackson Carpenter said the emphasis is on power mechanisms, with the cover story being what he describes as “have it your way” from bonded leather to top grain leather covers in 45 different colors.
