PV System Installations in China Are Forecast to Reach 2.5-3GW in 2011

PV system installations in China are forecast to reach 2.5-3GW in 2011, and expand further to 5GW in 2012, according to industry sources. China's Premier Wen Jiabao mentioned the determination to reduce carbon emissions and conserve energy in a recent meeting. China will control the total consumption of energy by developing renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power. Hence China-based firms are optimistic about the domestic solar market. Industry sources stated there are about 2.5-3GW of solar projects registered in China's State Council indicating ongoing solar system installations. The five China-based state-owned power companies that have been developing solar power stations are China Datang Corporation, China Guodian Corporation, China Huaneng Group, China Huadian Corporation, and China Power Investment Corporation.
