Google has reportedly launched the Android 5.0.1 OTA update for a number of Nexus devices.
Just yesterday, the first update of Android 5.0 hit Google's factory images page, suggesting that a wider over the air rollout was imminent.
Sure enough, a number of users have since reported that they're receiving over the air download prompts to install Android 5.0.1, which is the first incremental update of the OS known as Lollipop.
It seems to be rolling out to the Nexus 4, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 9, and the Nexus 10, according to Phandroid. The eagle-eyed among you will spot that the Nexus 5 seems to have been omitted from that list for now.
The only non-Nexus device to apparently be picking up the update prompt is the Motorola Moto G Google Play edition. This seems to confirm that this is predominantly a US thing right now.
Android 5.0.1 is an important update for the initial roll-out of Android Lollipop. Many Android phone users who have been expecting updates to the new OS - such those who picked up the non-US Moto X 2014 - have been disappointed. It seems that a number of disruptive bugs present in Android 5.0 have delayed such an update.
Now that Android 5.0.1 is out - presumably with fixes - we should see those promised updates finally rolling out over the coming weeks.
