A new app where users can link their lighting environment to a story is to be launched next year.
amBX UK Ltd is developing a Luminous Tales app, where families can download the storytelling app and, through wi-fi communication, lighting will change according to what’s happening on the page - for example it could dim when the story turns to night, or turn green if the setting is a lush jungle. It is working with artists to develop the tales and is running a Kickstarter crowdsourcing campaign to raise funds, although there’s still a long way to go.

PhotonStar LED Group plc is one of the latest manufacturer to announce it is working with amBX through its Halcyon Bulb, a circadian smart lamp. The app is one of the first Halcyon compatible products. Others include the Philips Hue range. Users buy the lamp or lamps, download a piece of software that enables the control, then via wi-fi it links it up with the app and the lighting is synchronised.
The PhotonStar Halcyon lighting solution was developed following a DECC Energy Entrepreneur grant and can be controlled using any WIFI smart phone or tablet.
The Luminous Tales app is hoped to be launched mid next year.
