In a slow economy, one Pacific firm continues to grow its business. Presleys Glass, a family-owned and -operated glass installation firm, is finding new customers in home improvements, such as glass shower doors and enclosures. The company also is gaining its share of commercial installations such as the 12-foot-high, nine-pane windows at the new city hall. “That’s actually a mid-sized project for us, ” said Rick Presley at the Oct. 9 Business Expo held at the Pacific Eagles Large Hall. The company also has installed the windows in several Wentzville schools. “That was a bigger job, ” Presley said. The Pacific Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the Business Expo to showcase Pacific businesses and services. Charleen Presley, president, who founded the firm in 1994 in a former residential structure at 1206 Thornton St., now manages the family business which has 12 employees, five of them being her sons- and daughters-in-law. The firm got off to a slow start, but has experienced steady growth for several years. In 1995, the Small Business Administration gave the firm an “Excellence for Small Businesses” award which was presented at a banquet in Jefferson City. In 2004, the firm constructed an addition on the back and east sides of its existing building which doubled the size of their facility and added more room for commercial glass and new office space. The addition also increased the visibility of the business from Interstate 44. Kirk Presley is in charge of commercial glass installations. Rick oversees residential glass installation. “I really enjoy the family business, ” Charleen Presley said. “I’m pleased to have my sons- and daughters-in-law working for the business. ” Source: usgnn
