Pakistan-based Century Packages has invested in KBA Group's Rapida 105 PRO medium-format packaging press.
The Pakistani packaging company already has three half-format printers in the Rapida line that include a five-colour Rapida 75 with coater and extended delivery, alongside two Rapida 72 presses.
Joining the printing presses in Karachi will be the new Rapida 105 PRO with six printing units and facilities.
The latest move marks Century Packages' foray into the medium-format sheetfed offset market.
Century Packages owner Aslam Sulaiman said: “This step was well overdue. We need the larger format for both our packaging and commercial jobs.”
Equipped for maximum flexibility, the Rapida 105 PRO can accommodate both commercial and packaging printing on substrates up to a thickness of 1.2 mm.
The new packaging printer is claimed to provide exceptional substrate flexibility from paper to board while facilitating alternating use of conventional process and UV inks and coatings.
According to the KBA Group, companies using the Rapida 105 PRO are guaranteed of full planning and design freedoms which are needed to cater to the interests of the food packaging and cosmetics packaging sectors.
Some of the key features of Rapida 105 PRO include the CleanTronic Multi washing systems, 450 mm raised foundations, a wide range of automation modules and non-stop pile changing in the delivery.
The packaging press as per the KBA Group also ensures that conversion between straight printing and perfecting modes is automatically processed inside two minutes.
