In the January-February period this year, the volume of metallurgical coke exports from China's Shanxi province indicated a 12.4-fold year-on-year increase to 262,000 mt, according to the customs authorities in Taiyuan, capital city of Shanxi. In 2013, Shanxi had exported 546,000 mt of coke, accounting for 85 percent of China's total coke exports in the given year.
The cancellation of China's previous 40 percent export tariff on coke has resulted in lower Chinese coke export prices and increased export volumes of Chinese coke. India, Japan and ASEAN countries are the main export destinations for coke from Shanxi Province.
