UK-based IT management company, Advanced 365 (Advanced), has been selected by the UK government to offer services in its latest cloud procurement framework, G-Cloud iii.
The third version of the government's cloud framework is designed to encourage adoption of cloud computing in the public sector in cost effective way.
Under the G-Cloud framework, all central government ICT procurement agencies must consider a cloud offering before opting for 'on-premise' options.
G-Cloud framework offers a CloudStore, an online catalogue that shows the list of cloud services allowing public sector organisations to choose services for the requirement.
The process aims to make the procurement process faster, more cost-effective and more transparent.
Advanced 365 managing director Neil Cross said that the new framework allows the company to extend cloud offerings to public sector organisations, and enables them to procure IT services without a lengthy tendering process, which will importantly allow them to become more efficient.
"As the demand for cloud continues to grow, more organisations than ever before are investing in cloud-based solutions and requiring the services of industry leading experts such as Advanced," Cross said.
UK Minister Francis Maude said that G-Cloud brings a step change in the way government buys IT.
"It's quicker, cheaper and more competitive, open to a wider range of companies, including a majority of SMEs, and offers more choice and innovation," Maude said.
"Many government departments already use G-Cloud, but IT costs are still too high. One way we can reduce them is to accelerate the adoption of Cloud across the public sector to maximise its benefits."
