According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in August this year increased by 8.1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year following the 14.9 percent year-on-year increase recorded in July.
In August, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey increased by 1.8 percent year on year and registered a 14.7 percent fall from the previous month, after a rise of 4.3 percent in July compared to June. In August, the industrial turnover index for fabricated metal product manufacturing, except machinery and equipment, increased increased 16.8 percent year on year and fell by 16.2 percent from the previous month, following a 5.3 percent increase in July compared to June.
The turnover of the domestic sales of Turkish basic metals manufacturing decreased by 18.5 percent in August, while foreign sales were down by 4.7 percent, both month on month. In the month in question, a 14.2 percent month-on-month decrease was recorded in the domestic sales turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with foreign sales decreasing by 20.1 percent compared to the previous month.
