It Costs JLR Additional 1bn to Source Parts From UK Suppliers

Tata motors' wholly owned luxury car maker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) will spend an additional GBP1bn ($1.62bn) with UK suppliers over the next four years, to source parts from them.

The effort is aimed at tapping the strong international demand for its Range Rover Eoque model which still continues.

This decision follows the already awarded supply contracts worth GBP2bn signed in March 2011 with 40 suppliers in the UK.

The Range Rover Evoque production line at Halewood on Merseyside in England will receive components, facilities and services from these suppliers.

A new logistics centre will be opened by the luxury carmaker in Ellesmere Port, UK, which will be managed by DHL, house about 300 employees and support the sales of Land Rover Freelander 2 and Evoque.

The luxury carmaker globally sold 60,111 units of the Range Evoque by April-end, since its launch in September 2011.
