Developmental Validation for Rapidhit System Is Completed by Integenx

IntegenX, developer of rapid human DNA identification technology, has completed developmental validation for the RapidHIT system in accordance with SWGDAM (Scientific Working Group for DNA Analysis Methods) guidelines.

The RapidHIT system is reportedly the first fully automated and integrated rapid human DNA identification system.

The system produces standardized DNA profiles in approximately 90 minutes, which are compatible with standard databases that contain previously generated profiles from reference and crime scene sources.

IntegenX will present the developmental validation data at the 25th World Congress of the International Society of Forensic Genetics in Melbourne, Australia, 2 September to 7 September 2013.

The company will also present data on the use of the RapidHIT system to analyze samples such as blood and saliva that are recovered from crime scenes.

University of North Texas Health Science Center executive director of the Institute of Applied Genetics Dr Bruce Budowle noted the completion of a developmental validation study by the manufacturer is a critical important step toward establishing rapid DNA technology as reliable and robust.

"Rapid DNA technology will enable both forensic and law enforcement professionals to expand the use of DNA typing as a tool to solve crimes," Dr Budowle added.

IntegenX president and CEO Robert Schueren said, "We're thrilled at the full commercial launch of the RapidHIT System, and the significant validation dataset we have been able to generate. We look forward to helping communities and governments throughout the world implement such a game changing technology."
